The Forgotten BowerA Poem by Megangel1327My interpation of an Arthurian myth involving Merlin's death/disapperance.The Forgotten Bower In a forest long forgotten, And where the ancient are young, There is a bower of willow trees, who's curtains of moss hides from view An ancient oak that only the Sidhe remember. In this bower, oh so many years ago Two stood and exchanged so much. One whose mind was full and heart aching; The other desiring the knowledge. Here they stood for many a lesson Where much was spoken and more was hidden. Then the wintery day before all was taught, he reached to ease his heartache. But the fair maiden had no wish for such. Day after day, he laid his heart at her feet; Day after day, she laughed and pushed it aside. But each time he came with his heart, Her own heart harden and recoiled Til all her thoughts turned into one, And the one thought turned into a scheme. She begged him for lessons of strange magic And promised her heart in return. But such a promise was false For on the fateful day, when all was taught, She used his knowledge on him. She sang a siren's song to drift him asleep. Then she laid the druid in a place of honor; She laid him inside the wise and noble oak. In a forest long forgotten, And where the ancient are young, There is a bower of willow trees, who's curtains of moss hides from view, An ancient oak that only the Sidhe remember, They remember that Merlin lies in rest there. © 2011 Megangel1327Author's Note
