Black rose

Black rose

A Poem by Melinda F. Shepard

Wilting black rose of my heat
Cries out for your touch
Only to be shoved back into its icy hole
That lies within my chest.
No warmth doth penetrate that pit of blackness
Alone the rose withers and dies
Alone it fades from your glaring sight.
