I don't wanna be where you're not,

But don't wanna be what gets you caught.

 

They see me come,

And they see me leave alone,

'Cause you are my home.

You are my home.

 

To sleep without tears,

To love without fear,

To take the good with the pain

And not be in vain.

 

I understand I must've messed up,

But do I just give up?

How am I supposed to give up

The only one in all my years

     who was anywhere near really real?

 

You wanna be the one who got away?

If you wanna be that one,

Gonna be that one,

What can I say?

To take the good with the pain/And not be in vain - is the best line on this piece. The whole poem is about perseverance. That in spite of the mess you've unintentionally created in the past you are still a happy warrior. You haven't failed in giving me inspiration, Mel. Good job:)
