The RushA Poem by Allison Faith Melton
She always wanted to feel the rush. She needed to feel the rush. It was the only thing that she felt was real. It was the only thing that made her feel alive. She lived for that feeling. It wasn’t something you could find in everyday life, so she went chasing it. It never seemed to last long enough. She was always on the move, trying to find it. She never thought that she would find that feeling in another person, until she met him. He gave her that feeling and so much more. She felt the rush, and the speed, and the heartbeat. He was an adventure, but adventures always come to an end.
And maybe that was okay. We all need to have our hearts broken at least once in our lives. It’s okay to cry, it doesn’t make you weak, it makes you human. Life is a brutal thing sometimes. Love is even worse. I mean yeah, it can be the best thing in the world, but when it ends it leaves you shattered. But that’s okay, we all fall down, we’re all brought to our knees at some point in our lives, but it’s getting back up that matters.
