Hush, stop and listen...

Do you hear that?

The Ocean, so full of mystery.

Hush, stop and listen...

Can you hear?

The rustling of the leaves,

as a cool breeze passes through.

For all of nature speaks and sings

of many wonders about.

If only we could stop what we are doing

and take the time to listen...

Hush stop and listen...

What was that?

The sound of seagulls flying about,

chattering and laughing about.

Hush,stop and listen...

Did you hear?

The lions mighty roar, as it calls on 

its clan.

Wherever you go, if you hush, and stop, 

you might just hear the many sounds

hidden about.

Even in the midst of a busy city, or street,

to the quietness of a forest, and the heat of the sea.

Take time to just hush, stop and listen...

Once we become silenced, than we shall truly 

hear the sounds of nature.

I can't remember reading poetry from you! What a change! I love your dramatic essays & prose, but this adds a whole new dimension to the way I think about you as a writer! I remember all the years living in noisy cities & having to do exactly what you describe in your poem (working hard to hear rare precious sounds). Now I live in the wilderness where quiet solitude amplifies all things you describe as being worth listening for! The way my world sounds is one of the things that makes me smile every morning. so true the noise that radiates around is simply destructive and confusing. Sometimes in silence, that is the only time that we can understand why it is is happening in our life. It is only through silent reflection that we tend to really think what's the reason for every emotion felt.
