A woman or a cup of coffee

A woman or a cup of coffee

A Story by Meshalini

It’s weird…

It’s Women’s Day. Like as usual, women’s day wishes are all over social media and television.

People are wishing their women in life and attending some special women’s day events.

But a question: Why do we celebrate Women’s Day?

Actually, even as a woman myself, I’m still wondering why people give so much importance to Women’s Day. Like, are we special? I don’t think so, actually. So what makes people think that we should celebrate Women’s Day?

First of all, who are these women? What do they do? I will share with you a few things I know.

A woman is an adult female human being - this is Google’s definition.

A woman is someone who cares for her world. The world that she was born into. The world that she was raised in. The world that she will be venturing into in the future with a certificate - this is my definition.

The world - her family.

The future world - her husband’s family.

Did you know?
A woman and a humanoid robot share 99.9 percent similarities.

What is a humanoid robot?

A humanoid robot is a robot made by roboticists with parts that resemble the human body. They do whatever they are programmed to. They are incredibly strong and capable of doing anything, all day, all week, without the need to rest for so long. Iron lady, yesss. But robots cannot fool or deceive you like humans… or like women.

What is deceiving?

Deceit is the act of making someone believe things that are not true.

Women are really good or almost experts in this part, especially our mothers. They can even take classes for others. They won’t directly tell you that they are tired, but instead, they will ask you -

Can we go makan outside today? Can we go out somewhere? And when you ask them ‘why?’, all kinds of answers would come out - you all are not bored ah everyday makan my food? I feel like eating outside today, I wanna see new faces because I'm bored looking at your face every day... and so on. Yeahhh, a hint for a day off.

Women are all-time available chefs.

I’m sure all our mothers had this moment at least once in their lifetime. It is when they need to cook, even when they are out somewhere with their family for vacation. Vacation sometimes turns into frustration, but love for family will make them do anything.

Women are a bundle of love. Their unflinching love can make you feel like floating in heaven.

What is love?

Love is a feeling that we have towards some people who make our lives happier and more joyful.

Showing love is an act of sharing the love we have with someone who needs it. I think women also like to show love for people who don't deserve it - abusive parents, husbands, disrespectful children, gossiping neighbours, relatives, and so on.

Women are robots. Women are programmed to love everyone and everything - a must-follow rule in the rule book. Women love to sacrifice for their loved ones - maybe not everything, but most of their dreams and desires.

What do dreams and desires mean?

Something that you want to achieve, obtain, or fulfil before your life ends. A young woman wants equality and a married woman wants freedom - ambitions, goals, a good rest and sleep - all of which are included. It’s not hard to achieve your dreams in today’s world, but women have some restrictions, some obstacles and some stereotypes that they need to overcome - every time.

Women are like flowers and fire.

They bloom when they're in a happier environment and ignite when things take a wrong turn.

Women are like the lights and shadows.

They show you the right path in life and protect you when you're overwhelmed by something.

Women are like the ocean.

We only know them for 10% - even me as a woman, I'm still learning myself.

I’m asking you this again: why do we celebrate Women’s Day?

To honour the sacrifice they make? To respect their needs? Or to give them a day off at least?

I leave it up to you to decide. When you return home today, look into the eyes of your mother, sisters, wife, or daughters, and perhaps you will find the answer.

Ohh, just one more thing…
Why do people write ‘women’ with the coffee cup emoji on social media every time women make mistakes?

What is a coffee cup?

A cup that is made to hold a type of drink called coffee that is made using coffee beans. It can also be
used for other things.

Hmmm… Everyone makes mistakes, right? Or wait, maybe it’s because your mom or your sisters or your wife or your daughters bring coffee or tea to you every day, as it’s part of their daily duty, even on Women’s Day. Yeahhhh, it can be.

Happy Women’s Day.
