Safe within my walls

Safe within my walls

A Poem by Micado

Exposed, naked, bare before the world,
I writhe and squirm in an attempt to free myself,
It is useless however as not even one word
Manages to form outside of my space.

My voice stays stuck,
My lungs are filled,
My heart is struck,
And suddenly it all becomes unreal.

So I reach into my guts,
And search,
And lurk,
Inside my bones and clutch,
Onto the warmth of my own,
Until I curl and hide inside my home.

Never safer,
Never softer,
Than the embrace given by the tender
Flesh where all thoughts roam,
Land where all is silently known.

Unfastening my hold,
Seems all but too cruel and cold,
As only my own hands, so kind,
Can draw the comfort of my mind.
