Close You EyesA Poem by Michael Fernandez
Close your eyes now,
Leave your halcyonic daydreams behind, And reside within the fantasies of our minds, So close your eyes now. A love only found within the pages of a storybook, Generic in look and disguise, But, underneath this publicized blanket of lies, A truth of hatred and despise - Yet, I know you still witness the memories, Where we shared another lifetime, Or perhaps those days are simply pieces - Fragments of my imagination from the bowels of my mind, But, I still hope for yet another chance, I still hope for another dance - So close your eyes now… Close your eyes now, Leave your halcyonic daydreams behind, And reside within the fantasies of our minds, So close your eyes now. I beg for your return within my silent prayers, To help ease this passionate burning, A deepening yearning for your beauty to break through the mist, And as our hatred and loathing fades - And drifts away, The words we’d whispered - The words we’d say; Echo through my tired mind, But, casted aside by shadows and shades of candle light, I remain hopeful that we can handle another dance, Another dance of devotion - So ease back your thoughts, Ease your emotions - And close your eyes now… Close your eyes now, Leave your halcyonic daydreams behind, And reside within the fantasies of our minds, So close your eyes now. © 2013 Michael FernandezFeatured Review
