Paper Towel SoulsA Poem by Michael KikleAs humans, we have adopted Paper towel souls. The purists are truly covered in dirt, An odor rises from them.
As scum-covered as the poor are, They hold tight to natural humanity. Thier souls are the brightest, The whitest, of this world.
As scum-filled as the idols of society are, They withhold their souls from public view, The mask they must embrace Makes fools of us all.
Our paper towel souls Are sometimes folded and crinkled, And easy to tear, as well. They are fragile; we are fragile.
Those paper towel souls began as a parallel to filth. The trouble is that once Those parallels have met,
There is no point of return. © 2014 Michael KikleFeatured Review
