Rain's Song

Rain's Song

A Poem by Midnight's Mistress

And as the rain falls,
Hitting the ground repeatedly,
The sound of the drops echo
Through my silent room.

I lay in bed in a trance,
Hearing the pittering rain.
But not recognizing the rain itself,
Just the sound it makes

My window wishes it was me,
Able to stay dry in bed.
Instead I thank it for it's job,
And applaud the percussion of the rain.

Soon, I will fall asleep,
And the rain shall continue to fall.
But when I wake, the sun shall shine
And the rain shall patter no more.
