Introduction

Chris is the story of an imaginative little girl who adores Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables�"and especially Anne Shirley. In Anne, she finds a kindred spirit: someone whose imagination is just as boundless as her own.

Her vocabulary is an overflowing mix of adjectives, adverbs, and other colorful words. At times her phrases defy logic. And if she can’t find the right word to suit her meaning, she simply makes one up. Anyone with a spark of imagination can understand this perfectly�"it’s called Chris chatter. As you’ll soon discover, it takes on a personality all its own.

Chris lives in a world of imagination and dreams. In time, her dreaming leads her to Mathew, a young man of nineteen who would much rather be left alone. To him, the constant presence of a pesky little girl is pure torture. Yet, without effort on his part, he is drawn into her life�"where she becomes an unshakable nuisance.

And so begins the adventure.

I’ve written and rewritten this story more times than I can count, and still I haven’t gotten it quite right. Hopefully this attempt will be the last. I hope, if you choose to join this adventure, that you fall in love with this whimsical little character.
