"A Familiar, Stranger"

"A Familiar, Stranger"

A Poem by Mike
"

unspoken words poetry

"
I was drowning
in a love that felt like a locked room-"
same walls,
same arguments,
same version of me slowly disappearing.

I stayed too long.
Long enough to forget
the things I used to love,
long enough to mistake silence for peace,
long enough to feel suffocated
but still afraid to leave.

I was lost.
Not loudly.
Just quietly…
the kind of lost where you wake up
and don’t recognize your own heartbeat anymore.

Then-"
you happened.

No warning.
No grand entrance.
Just a voice that spoke
the exact language of my heart,
like you’ve been there before,
like you already knew my moods,
my pauses,
my unspoken pain.

You didn’t fix me.
You saw me.
Every little detail-"
the flaws I hide,
the softness I pretend not to have,
the tired parts of me I thought were unlovable.

And somehow,
you made space feel lighter.
Breathing felt natural again.
Laughing didn’t feel forced.

You became my "home" shawtyy
without trying to be.

In a world that taught me how to survive,
you reminded me how to 'feel'
You became my 'heal'
my quiet 'lifeline'
the calm voice that says,
“Stay. You’re safe here.”

You’re not a replacement.
You’re a revelation.

A familiar stranger"
someone I never planned to meet,
but somehow my soul recognizes.

And if I have to face the world again-"
its noise,
its chaos,
its cruelty-"
I know I can.

As long as you’re next to me,
I’m not afraid anymore.
