I was always alone
Never did you see

Lying in your wake
Was the path I was to take

Why was it always you?
I gave it all I had
But you got everything I ever wanted
Why couldn't it be me?
Instead I'm cast aside
To be another part of your scenery

Always standing here
My heart incomplete
All the pieces I tried to find
You got there first and took them from me

Now I take control
The path you lead
Is not the one for me
I go my own way
And head into the brush
For the first time I feel free

Why was it always you?

Now walks only me
The past is long behind
As I carve out my own scene
