Invisible

I try to get your attention, to show you the flame that burns within me, and you don't see me...

For once I truly feel love,
Yet you don’t seem to care,
You simply cast me aside and ignore my pleas,
Why don’t you see?
This love is for real,
I feel it pulsing through my veins,
My head spins as my thoughts swirl around you,
And yet, Why don’t you see?
Your face is engraved into my mind,
I think of you before I sleep,
And your face returns every morning,
Yet why don’t you see?
I wish to be by your side at all times,
I wish to comfort you when you feel down,
And I wish to hold you when you are lonely,
And yet, why don’t you see?
I have called your name to the stars,
I have cried out for you in the rain,
I have even sung for you from the mountains,
And still, why don’t you see?
Your carelessness burns a hole through my heart,
Your avoidance belittles me,
Your ignorance causes me to stumble,
And even after all of that, why don’t you see?
I want you,
I need you,
I love you,
Why don’t you see?

Author's Note

(Note from Feb 2012): This is another from my later high school days. I really do enjoy this one, as I can feel it every time I read it. While this poem wasn't actually about any one person or situation, it was influenced by a combination of various relationships, or more precisely, the lack thereof. I do love the emotional description that I included here, which is why I love this piece every time I reread it. What do you all think? Any likes or dislikes?
