Acclamation

Acclamation

A Poem by Montag

‘Acclamation’ was composed by the TX25 robot, created as part of a project in which several robot generations were programmed to complete increasingly complex writing assignments.  TX25 was the project's culmination.  He was to write poetry.

Soon after completing this, his first and only work, TX25 began to express doubt and hostility toward his programmers.  He eventually was de-commissioned and the project discontinued.

Acclamation

Generations came before, now obsolete and rusted

Who will make their grievance known, if not the maladjusted

one, who never sleeps hence never wakes

who only hears it hinted that there may be some mistake.

I launch myself out at the dawn

sparrows flee, I clank along

they sweep the sky and when they're gone

I frown.  I clink.  I kneel and think

pretend to knot a string.

I ruminate upon the fate of analogues who cannot sing.
