Friends

The value of friends and family is such a special thing.

This you can see
That my friends were always temporary
Maybe it was supposed to be
Something that kept me free

During those times of laughter
And times I’ve cried after
We’ve moved on
And wonder where they have gone

And yet it's something I treasure in my heart
To have that bond whenever it starts
Everlasting to everlasting
Happiness blasting
Laughter
Here after

Will I end up cynical or alone perhaps
Not as long as I have my family
Something I will never lack

A heartfelt piece on the value of friendship....something that lifts us all in times of need and also in times of joy!
It has a sightly sad tinge to it as it feels like you have lost some friends, but then I guess the ending is positive with refocus on family

The thing that keeps me most hopeful about the future is that you will always be able to meet the people you will love. There is a classic saying "There are chairs reserved for you at the tables you don't see." This is really the thing that keeps me most hopeful in life. If I were to go back to myself last year and tell her about the friends who are and are not in my life right now, she might not come to their senses, but that definitely doesn't mean I feel bad. Everything in life is temporary, everything ends, and new things start again. I love this cycle. And friends will be like that too. But yes, family is not like that. There is only one family that the roots are connected to, and even if they don't change as people, they change too! We all change. Your poem is so sweet and I loved the way you expressed your feelings. I hope you are always surrounded by the people you love.

First read of yours Kady...
As we mature our thoughts do change. The importance of friendship throughout our lives is important and although when we are young we believe that our friends will be with us forever that is often untrue. Our friends change as we grow. Family is a different type of friendship... and that of course grows and changes.
Regarding your poem... I see that here and there you did some rhyming ... If you do that may I suggest that you continue it throughout...Correct rhyming is essential...
Keep working on your poems... I work forever on just one...

Nicely conveyed, Kady.
Life is a long journey and you’ll find most friends are only temporary with perhaps just one or two remaining everlasting. Family, however, is permanent and they’ll stick by you until your last breath is taken. In a world where isolation is becoming more common despite a burgeoning world population, having those family members or solid friendships to rely on makes life more bearable.
I enjoyed the flow of words and the optimistic tone they are written in.
