Peace is possible!! Here's to hoping!!!

I've traveled to many places
But nothing compared to this place
Beautiful fields and a water gardens
It's now gone

A place of safety
Where people were in harmony
The kids played in peace
It's now gone

Family were together
Friends have been made
Songs were created there
It's now gone

I remember this place very vividly
As a child it was a place of wonder
A place of joy
It's now gone

This place I wanted to visit often
How things are so temporary
Temporary temporary
It's now gone

I don't know if it was the place
Or the feeling I got when I was there
But it represented hope for me as a child
It's now gone

Or is it
My memory retains a better world
A time when hope wasn't gone
So dwelling in the here and now
I must believe there will yet be
A time and place for peace and harmony

I can really identify with this being all my childhood haunts are all gone. They only reside in my memory now. There are times I look online at streets (Google street views) I used to go to meet friends and I get a little sad when I see houses that have replaced grass fields we used to hang out at.

very well penned. some places and memories are so special. you bring about this so vividly in this poem. I can relate to this, as a kid the places I lived in, have changed so much now that I can't recognize them and some places I miss them too. true that, things are so temporary, but memory lives on. cheers to hope and life! btw, I like the tag line - "Peace is possible!!
