Trapped

A Poem by Kady R.
"

Hope you enjoy!!!

"
Caged….
Bars built, not my own making
Foundations made with sand

Trapped in a world, of another
Dreams of life….
A better place

With no way to fly, how could I leave?
Long in torment
Expected more but never enough
Ridiculed…

And yet, with a life made so temporary
there was…a…choice
To leave
Cage open, broken and sand clinging onto me
There were repercussions to staying
And yet repercussions to leaving

So I waited…
And waited…
And waited….
Till I was ready
To leave strong
Then the door opened
Finally I left my sandy barred cage
And found refuge within the trees
With myself and many like me

This feels like a slow burn of endurance rather than a dramatic escape, and that’s its strength. The sandy bars are a strong image—structures that look solid but won’t hold forever. I like that you don’t rush the leaving; the waiting matters here, the cost of both staying and going. By the time the door opens, it feels earned, not impulsive. Ending in the trees, “with myself and many like me,” gives it a quiet solidarity instead of a victory speech. Honest and patient work.

Thanks Thomas for your review of my work!! 🤗🤗🤗
Strong feelings in this one. As a bipolar I have felt trapped for most of my life, but never really did get outside of my cage except through writing. ~Jim

Of course!!🤗🤗🤗🥰🥰🥰
One should never feel trapped, yet sometimes it’s hard to get out! It takes time to ready our mindset ( our spirit within) to be able to fly… it’s back and forth a million times until we are perfectly ready to leave and find refuge where one chooses…
Lovely writing

Finding strength is hard when trapped with no hope to fly
Glad that you found strength from within.
And what more do we need, the escape is what we all await!

There is nothing better than to escape into the shade and glow of trees. Each is different, its roots deeper or shallower, it positioning amongst others if in a gentle wood, minor but yet to learn; if in a forest.. a human is a leaf wandering mid the glory of green or however is the season. Wherever we go, as you prepare to be, there will be another tree waiting for you, silently watching, hopefully needing you to need its protection. Like a star high and higher, a selected tree is a growing guardian. Go brightly and deeply into your future, my friend.

'So I waited…
And waited…
And waited….
Till I was ready
To leave strong
Then the door opened
Finally I left my sandy barred cage
And found refuge within the trees.'

GIRL! I'M SO PROUD OF YOU! This totally sounds like something I could write! Same feelings...same words. And totally understandable. I'm moving somewhere else soon, far away...and I think I'm escaping.
You are stronger than your fears!

My favorite part is found refuge within the trees with myself and many like me. I am also finding that refuge. A beautiful poem. I can definitely relate to this kind of being trapped. Thanks for sharing!

Wow… this really touched me. It feels so real like the pain, the waiting, the fear, and then finally, the strength to walk away. The way you described the cage and the sand was beautiful and sad at the same time. And the ending… finding peace and others like you, that gave me chills. It’s such a brave and honest piece. Loved it! Thanks for sharing this Kady!!!

Likewise!!! 🤗🤗🤗🥰🥰🥰
we have to make that decision to leave a bad situation...no one else can make it for us.
But often we just hesitate...sometimes being unloved by someone feels better than being alone.
