Grieving Knight

Grieving Knight

A Poem by Moraša Kouřil
"

Couple of lines about a grieving knight awaiting his queen at the ruins. I still haven't finished it so this is just for me...maybe one day

"
He stands
His sabatons buried up to his ankles in the mud. Disappearing into to ground. Yet he still stands. The gate above his head crumbles around him as the ruins of the two towers burry his lost comrades. Saving his eyes from the sight. But his heart still aches. The blood spilled must have poisoned him. Rotting from the inside it consumes him. But as long as his legs can carry the weight he stands still awaiting his queen. The mother of all known to him. Without the queen the castle  crumbles. Without the queen the men crumble. At night when his knees beg to kneel, he hears out the wind’s cries. In them he hears his queen.
