This is Letting Go

This is Letting Go

A Poem by MRL
"

When you said goodbye to the Earth, I gift wrapped my heart, To send up to heaven, Cuz I couldn't quite part, I was scared you'd be sad, When you finally got home, And I didn't want you to think, That we sent you alone...

"

This is Letting Go

I've come to the point

Were it don't instantly make me sad

To think of your face

Or the fun that we had

It wasn't easy at all

To start letting go

And I'll never forget you

Just so you know

When you said goodbye to the Earth

I gift wrapped my heart

To send up to heaven

Cuz I couldn't quite part

I was scared you'd be sad

When you finally got home

And I didn't want you to think

That we sent you alone

And it's okay if you have it

Cuz you need it more

I'll never regret that

One things for sure

If tears could have saved you

You would have lived a long time

And if life could be bottled

I'd of sent some of mine

If I had one wish

It'd be to see you smile

Or know that you'd answer

If the numbers were dialed

But we don't get that chance

When we've had it all along

To cherish what we have

Before it's all gone

When I drove past your house

And it was all boarded up

It took all I had in me

To keep down my lunch

My eye's blurred with tears

And I got lost in my head

And I heard the last words

Me and you ever said

You told me you loved me

And you gave me a hug

Then a pat on the head

And a slight trace of a shrug

We were drinking Patron

Back to back shots

We laughed in till morning

I'm gonna miss that a lot

But I find comfort in knowing

That you would never leave me

And when I sit by the lake

It's like your slow steady breathing

Cuz I know when the breeze blows

And the sun starts to shine

That's you telling me

Everything will be fine

And this might sound crazy

But I know for a fact

When I ask for you help

You keep me on track

And I can laugh away the pain

Instead of just crying

And when I shut my eyes tightly

I can still see you smiling

So keep a seat saved and send a good word

I'm sure they would listen to you

And get your ears ready cuz believe me buddy

We sure have some talking to do
