So Close to Closure

 

 

 

She gave up her life
To protect the ones she loved
She'll lie to your face
Then pass with a shrug
 

She's not scared to leave
But she loves this place
She's as clumsy as they come
But she screams grace
 

And I loved her to death
But she died too young
And I can't hide my tears
While there's air in my lungs
 

I've tried so hard to let go
But I can never in the end
And I have nothing to show
Of how you touched me my friend
 

I'd trade everything I have
To have you back with me
And I'd give up my life
So that you could be free
 

But I'll never have the chance
To tell you how I feel
You're in a better place now
You proved angles are real
 

There's no way in hell
That they wouldn't let you in
Cuz all the good that you did
Cancels out the sin
 

I prayed for you the day you died
And to say I wasn't angry
Is a pretty big lie
 

Cuz I cursed and I shouted
But it did no good
And trying to understand why
Left me planted were I stood
 

I have to admit the first day you were gone
I honestly thought of ending it all
But I remembered you face
And your words came to mind
That no matter how bad it gets
Just remember happy times
 

And it worked for awhile
So I started to move on
But it was the denial
That broke the bond
 

Cuz I knew it that day
That it was over
And ever since then
I've been so close to closure
