Tupac Used To Rap For Me

A Poem by The Elusive Mr Dunne (Mr Dunne Poetry)

Tupac Used To Rap For Me

"Tupac Used To Rap For Me"

I took to black culture, cause there was no dad for me/
Everyday he got more colder, Tupac used to rap for me
Had me feeling like a soldierrr, was something I could be/
I used to pray to Jehovah, hoping he'd get back to me
My family hate me bad, I think they have it in for me/
Yet I'm very good at rap, so I don't need your sympathy
I'm supposed to be a dad, but my child I do not see/
I reach for a pen & pad, so I can smile through the misery
Thinking what they did to me, & what they did was wrong/
They had me sent to prison, for the lyrics in my songs
I never had a daddy, and I never had a mum/
I've never had a home, nor a place that I belong
Plagued by my demons, I had no strength to carry on/
Until that fateful night, when I first heard that Tupac song
Now when I write it's like, I'm writing with his ghost/
And who I am to deny, when it's him I rate the most.

a terrible childhood with absent parents who wanted to send you away, must have been extremely horrible for you. Yet, you were able to see the light and developed a passion for RAP (which by the way my grandson writes and sings) this is a story of success. Nice write.
Best, Betty
PS I'd love to peek at my poems please, it's give and take here...thanks

I consider tupac and his poems among the greats one of my heavier inspirations. This flies off the screen as I read it with a melody that although not present is entirely felt! Bravo friend friend bravo

This needs music to fit the mood of the piece, which is quite good, the melodic tone enhances
the frustration exuded by the poem...

Tupac's words also had a great affect on me growing up. He spoke a lot about life and relationships. This poem does that as well.

I’d be lying if I were to say there shouldn’t be a track for this-
