Shadow Hunter

Shadow Hunter

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

The night knows what I know
because it's seen me here before
Hidden in its shadows
lies a dark and lonely door

Inside it's darker yet although
it's not too dark to see
That scattered are the fragments
of the man I used to be

Pieces of a poet here
there a shard of dream
Little bits of smile now
a torn and tattered seem

Scraps of love and joy
are also there among the mess
Next to crumbs of sentiment
and some of tenderness

If i can pick them up
and if I get them to fit right
Then I might be myself again
before the mornings light

Mr. Lopez,
Your above writing is well thought out, as it seems to be in layers pulled back. Each a hopeful realization of what remains in an effort to see that life is still good and worth experiencing. I also felt that it was one of acceptance and not judgement of oneself to simply enjoy what the future holds. Beautiful!
Blessings,

Life teaches us many things. One is. Never give-up or give-in to the dark.

I liked the above lines. Hard to find strength. We must. Thank you dear Poet for sharing the excellent poetry.

This reminds me of my "packed bags" in a way. Picking up the pieces of our lives and becoming new with what we have at present is much a journey to be had. I love this poem it's relatable to me.
A broken person like myself understands the effort it takes to rebuild. I love the strength in this piece the hope, the drive, as well as the rush before it's too late I sense with the morning light.
A beautifuly written poem so heartfelt and deep.

Well said! I find myself doing the same thing!
It takes time for one to become comfortable with the essence of nighttime and the certain feelings it may bring along with it. I always seem to be stuck in the darkness from time to time, but I always seem to be better when morning arrives. I really enjoyed your thoughtful write...
