Your words and the image speak volumes, Kelly. I love this sad but beautiful poem. I definitely agree with the others that the word "gloaming" depicts a wonderful emotion.

After what I have read here, you're certainly right, Dara! ...thank you, my friend!
Oh you are the master of such few words that say so much! I am in awe how you do this girlie!.. Love the metaphor use,,,i can clearly see the person sitting in an chair by the window.. sitting up straighter each time a car light flashes past the window only to feel that drop of disappointment every time it is not them!!
Beautiful, sad and brilliant !!

...the heart even seems to flutter a little more, with each passing car...thank you, Sereena!
Beautiful! The word Gloaming reminded me of a song my Grandpa had by Sir Harry Lauder a 78 called "roaming in the gloaming". A simple yet so reaching out kind of a poem (3d)

Lovely micro poem. The suggestion, I suppose, is that you've waited all day. "Gloaming" is such a lovely word; I'm glad that you wrote a poem featuring it.
