The Afterglow

The Afterglow

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

 the afterglow

…he reads me like a book,

like the legerdemain

of a magician…

he gets me

with all the precision

of a stephen king novel,

leaving me in the afterglow

of a perfect storm….

Yes, it completely works!! You're welcome!
There's something sexy and mysterious about the smoke of a cigarette (okay, not really...but I guess when you look at it, the way it spreads out and then disappears). That is awesome, how a person can truly get you when all others keep guessing. It's a wonderful feeling.

...sexy, why thank you, Matt! ...satisfaction, most definitely!
Now this write's surely gonna be saved in my cafe's all library shelves (General Reading, Reading list and favorite). What a magnificent stuff you've boiled with the rapture of words!! Totally marvelous!! You remind me the stories of historian-artistic-legends who .. even whose love got rune into the Greek-scenario-of-granite's... with or as a remark----able omen to whole romance. Wonderful Job, Kell!

This one delights me for many reasons...thank you, Adams! I appreciate the feedback!
The companion picture really captures the mood of the poem, and vice versa. Seems like the woman of this work has had a revelation, but not an earth shattering one, just a profound everyday one. One of the kind that has a deep meaning you can't really share.

Oh, you smoke alright, Kelly …
In fact, I smelled something singeing the air when I first signed-in, and followed it to You, to this perfectly designed presentation, and I dearly love,
"…he reads me like a book,
like the legerdemain
of a magician…"
… and, the thought of you in blushing "afterglow" framed in moist auburn trusses.
It awes my senses, how you seem to never deplete your reservoir of brilliantly simmering moments of imaginatively-rendered sensuality, Kelly; yet, there is ever a tender undercurrent of deeper emotion in your writes; it's almost as though one can hear a soft whisper ⁓ "come, sit with me awhile … I've so much to tell you, so much more to share."
In-any-event, we know the kind of storms that fill our reservoirs to overflowing, until they burst!

Beautifully delivered, Our Dear Poetess … big hug of thanks for the sheer, delightful treat of warming imagery! ⁓ Richard

(yeah, I know, another longwinded review, but look who's inspiring me … LOL!)

Emotional fires do not burn every day, but a poet lives in their afterglow capturing the last fragments of their light.
