and jeans stressed out

at the knees

 

a good day

for slouchy socks

and turner classic movies,

the film noirs in black and white

of Bogart

and Orson Welles,

the femme fatales

of Stanwyck

and Hayworth,

Bacall and Crawford.

 

a rainy day

for sleeping in

reading poetry by Dickinson

getting lost within

the cerulean blue

 

of eyes

Author's Note

Here is a list of the definitive roles of the femme fatales mentioned above. They are, in my opinion, the classic Hollywood Noir. Barbara Stanwyck for “Double Indemnity”, Rita Hayworth for “Gilda”, Lauren Bacall for “Key Largo”, and Joan Crawford for “Mildred Pierce”.

Rainy days can bring comfort, providing you are on the inside looking out. Plenty to be thankful for. Love an oversize sweater and that pot of chili sounds so inviting, as are the books and movies. A pot of chili on a rainy day... why, of course! You describe very well how we feel when the weather isn't nice, and our inclination to stay warm, dry, and well-fed--both physically and mentally. But I thought it never rained in southern California? (I'm kidding. It actually snowed in the late fall of '67--I was there)

Even winter rains have a certain cachet don't they.

I love those rainy days where the only thing you want to do is laze around in PJs, watch movies, romcoms for me, cause they are silly and have a touch of hope within them, and sometimes just watch the rain coming down and see the wonder of nature. It's also a good day to write poetry like you seem to have done Kelly. Thank you for the share!!
