A Soliloquy to Nature

A Soliloquy to Nature

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

A Soliloquy to Nature

December draws to a close.

Long shadows of evening

stretch across

the frozen ground.

The crow and blackbird perch

  lofty heights of stoic trees,

their piercing caws

 ubiquitously heard

A soliloquy

to nature.

And perfect timing Kelly, as the world outside turns into an ice skating rink and leaves us all wobbling, sliding and slipping along like Bambi on stilettos....
Which brings me to my next point.
I think I've been staring at my screen for too long, because I actually thought the picture that goes with the words was of a single large red stiletto, upside down. Do you see it? 😃

I think I hear them now. The owls have grown quiet and mysterious. We have Great Horned owls and Redtail Hawks living nearby and Canada geese that fly over every morning and evening. I love to watch them all. I like crows too but the ones I encounter are usually in town perched on a lamp post scolding shoppers. Great poem. I enjoyed.

Into January 2025 with a Fabulous New Piece by The Mistress of Minimalism. Suitably bleak and almost like Shakespeare in its fine imagery. Exceptional ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

Thank you most kindly, Tony! Always a pleasure to have you here!
Beautiful piece...I like the feeling the second stanza gives me with the stoic trees and piercing caws ubiquitously heard....great wording there. Your writing is always so expressive and full of life, even when you are speaking of death and frozen winters.
