Null and Void

Null and Void

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Null and Void

the gravity

of your words

weigh upon me

like snow

on redwood trees.

you stifle

my resolve

with silence…

a droning hum

that extinguishes

the breath of me.

Ah, yes, I sometimes wish I were more like your protagonist. Life would be so simple not giving a damn about others. ...but damnit, it's just not in me :) ... Good write!

A love that was deceived has a tendency to give your heartbreak a voice. Thank you for hearing mine!

... Sadly, I guess heartbreak is something we all have in common.
I love your imagery of snow on redwood trees, the final lines extinguishes the breath of me. Nicely written, thank you.

Cassie! How wonderful to see you again. Welcome back, and thank you for the smile!
I really liked this, the image of snow and its weight on a redwood makes me think of the little things that build up over time, until one can't take it any more, and then silence being a thing thats silences. what a great poem, I identify with it and would love to be able to write with this kind of brevity. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the kindness of words, Dave. As for writing, just keep nurturing what's inside you!
written with strong emotions, expressed splendidly. words can be heavy, so could be relationships. a make or a break. It's a thin line that can only be stretched so far till it is untenable. silence is a killer, indeed. wonderful writing, thanks for sharing, Kelly.

...thank you, my friend! My best to you!
ouch - that's heavy. words can lift us up or tear us down. what has been said can't be taken back. best to think carefully before we speak. i guess that's why there are so many judges and lawyers.

I'd rather have sticks and stones sometimes...words can hurt. Great work, Kelly.
