Paper  Airplanes

 

 

 

crumpled balls of paper

begin to accumulate

in my waste basket

 

day after day

they become nothing more

than unfinished attempts

at writing poetry

 

and what could have been

paper airplanes.

I usually start out on my laptop, but I always keep a legal pad and pen close by to write down ideas or prompts that I want to remember. I wrote everything down when I first started writing, then I typed it out. One of these days I'll invest in a paper shredder. Then no more airplanes! Thanks Vol!

I know, right... I stuck with a pen for a long time before I got a computer with Microsoft works on it. When they canceled that fine, simple program I bought a new computer with Corel's "WordPerfect"
disaster, it never was very compatable with windows which neventually cost me anA in a modern literature course...still mad about that!
Now I add notes at the bottom and when I'm ready to save I cut them out.
Anyway, The means is nothing to the final product even if my "purest" gene doesn't like it.

Kelly, you read my mind. As a fan I was about to ask you for something new. You may have inspired me to go back to writing on paper. Along with the frustration, I used to find a little joy in crumpling the paper into balls and tossing them at a wastebasket. I have never quite given in to the occasional urge to toss my iPad.

How well I remember sitting cross legged on my bed with my Smith Corona and tossing page after page into the trash. And I made most of those shots, too! So glad I was able to read your mind today, my friend. Thank you for being here!

It's trying to be spring. Sadly, one can’t really call it that. We still have the central heat on and there is no colour outdoors or blooms of any kind. We are the great white north after all :(
