Mood Indigo

Mood Indigo

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers
"

...a little jazz for the soul

"

Mood Indigo

that mood indigo

stealing down to my shoes

Ellington made jazz

so blue

but Ella made it flow,

just so

that i

could lay me down

and die.

I thought long and hard for a follow-up to my mom's '57 Chevy. Than it came to me, the music back then. The jazz, of Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald. My parents were both influenced by it, so I asked Alexa to play it for me...my, my, my. You ain't been blue till you've heard this song!

Fabulous pairing and Ella’s scat singing and interpretation of lyrics remain ace today. There will only ever be one Ella. You have captured a musical era for me with your words as well as bringing my parents back. Both lovers of jazz. A treat to read Kelly.

This lovely poem could almost be a soft jazz song itself. It dances with a rhythm of its own. Nice writing, Kelly. CLE

Oh Gene, you're the best! Thank you, my dear friend!
In Nigeria, the word jazz is often used to refer to magic. I believe magic can be a tool for healing and harmony. Gorgeous poem honoring this music.

Thank you!
I've always wanted to go back to the very beginning of music and jazz was one I looked at. Both Ella and Sir Duke (Stevie Wonder song) were two of the greats. Ella was married to Louie Bellson a great jazz drummer who I listened to. And Duke was one of a kind. I wish today's music had that kind of class.

Nice one, Kelly.
