Dance Me to the End of Love

Dance Me to the End of Love

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers
"

...a bow to Leonard Cohen

"
...dance me to the end of love

Dance Me to the End of Love

i’d  forever sleep

the day away

per chance to dream of you…

lift me like an olive branch

and dance me to the end of love.

your fingers, well versed

upon each curve

like the resin bow to a Stradivarius,

enticing you

orchestrating you

to dance me to the end of love.

oh, dance me to the end of love

woo me

like a Memphis moon

play me like a cello, tuned

dance me to the end of love.

Leonard Cohen. I saw him on concert in Germany in 1978 and 1979. I saw him in Michigan when he was older. The poet of song motivated us to write and sing. I loved the poetry dear Kelly. Love should be our most pleasurable dance in our life. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

ohhh wow, I love this. Sometimes I wish poetry became some sort of reality, some things live in the mind. I love the imagery here

It's been so long since I've seen you, Cassie! Thank you so much!
This reminds me of my favourite of his, which is the opening poem from the same titled book of longing. Which is probably the best poem I have ever read, so you are in good company at least Kelly! 😀
In his poem I think I actually W.O.L. (wowed out loud) at his tale he fitted into one poem and like the ouroborous that ate its own tail, he went full circle by starting the book with the reason for the book.
You also do that with a "perhaps dreaming is why we sleep to dream to sleep to dream."
Isn't love the best dream of all? 😀

Fabulous Kels - and u have found a gap in my knowledge. I admit I am much more Dylan and Paul Simon than Leonard Cohen. But that has not spoiled my enjoyment of this latest Super Piece from 'The Mistress of Minimalism'. Really Excellent ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

Thank you, Tony. It's always a pleasure having you here!
A beautiful piece Kelly, a fine tribute to Cohen and a reminder too of a love much closer to home. The song chosen by my sister for my brother in law’s funeral. Just seven mourners in the mid of covid. I love this poem so much.

The very best of a comment I could ever receive! Thank you, Chris!
So sensual and utterly beautiful...this poem croons in my ears, dear Kelly.

"dance me to the end of love." ~ I''l keep recalling this line.

And the chosen artwork...is to die for, as always.

The artwork IS to die for!! I feel it brought life to this piece. Thank you, Divya!
A beautifully worded piece with lovely repetition.... that encompasses love in a very special way...bringing in the music that belongs to this love affair ...even if it is a dream...an enticement is still reminiscent...
magnificent words to dramatize the affair....love it Kelly

Hi Kelly, I'm here to stay!!!! A beautiful write!!!

Your poem reads like a soft, intimate song. Its imagery is stunning, especially the line comparing a lover’s touch to a “resin bow to a Stradivarius.” That metaphor makes you feel the delicacy and skill of that love. Its a beautiful and heartfelt piece.
