An Unfinished Sky

An Unfinished Sky

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

...an unfinished sky

an unfinished sky

stoic branches

voyeuristically embellish

an unfinished sky,

illustrating

a still life impression

of wordless poetry,

void of allegory

and rhyme.

Nice photo Kelly. Your poem reflects what so many poets and painters admire about nature. Yet, they can't put words into poetic thoughts like you can. Excellent poem. :)

You always delight me...and I thank you!
Kelly, the way your “stoic branches” frame an unfinished sky resonates even more with your photograph of the leafless tree against the grey overcast. The poem and image together feel like a quiet meditation...minimal, stark, and profoundly expressive.
Simply, beautiful.

So good seeing you, John! Thank you!
Perhaps a bird will come in time and leaf the tree a little rhyme. ;) I enjoyed the read, my friend.

Thank you, Fabian!
Each branch uniquely branches off and yet never crash into each other, as they all bid to reach for whatever trees are reaching for, a bit like us pesky humans, aiming to be top no matter our starting position in life.
But atheist our clothes don't all fall off in autumn. We'll not unintentionally at least! 😀

Thank goodness our clothes fall off at our choosing, right? Lol, thanks, Lorry!
Your image is striking to look at Kelly. That network of tangled bare branches quite mesmerizing against a grey sky backdrop. Your carefully chosen brevity is equally enchanting. Beautiful on both accounts.

Kelly, I so get your little poem and photo. Take a look at the photo accompanying my poem My Winter Friend. I return to it again and again because of the tree. You have reminded me that so many months ago I began to follow your writing because I felt we shared a spiritual observation of nature. Your photo and poem take me back to my recent stay in Baring where I had my own encounter of barren limbs against the night sky.

An unfinished sky is such a great description of more than what we see but also experience.

Poetry is part of the beauty that is everywhere... Beautifully reflected here. So simply and elegantly stated...I was once a wood sculptor...wood and poetry are a part of my soul...
