Morning glory
A Poem by Kate
Morning glory
Smell of rain
Rustling sounds
Of sleeping brains
Time has come
For the dark night
To turn into the sun
Rueful faces
Sombre streets
Empty baskets
Next to beggars
Gilt trinkets
In their pockets
Black plaque
Garnishing their mouth
Rich men
Heavy golden chains
Braces snapping
For they are so stout
Behold beware
They are the ones
Avarice twinkling
In their eyes
Justice smiting
Chubby cheeks
Fair breeze
Elevating my dreams
Merry people
Profuse laughter
Free from disease
We can all live in peace

This is wonderful! It was very illustrative and descriptive. I could picture the scene as if I were sitting on a public park bench watching morning commuters go by. On a technical note, I think the word "smiting" as in (striking) is intended in the first line of the last verse. As a typo you may have added an extra "t". You obviously have great poetic talent. I can't wait to read more of your work.

T.S. Eliot said, "a hundred visions and revisions" and that's about what everything I write goes through.

I come from the Czech Republic. I've been studying English for several years (I am just about to finish my studies). I started writing "poetry" that doesn't rhyme in Czech, but one day I lapsed into E.. more..
