A Bird Of Sorts

A Bird Of Sorts

A Poem by Murray Emerland
"

A poem I wrote in the eleventh grade.

"
How gracefully
She flew

From windowpane
To countertop

A bird of sorts;
But all dressed up.

With spotted wings
And beaded eyes
And royal hues.

A bird of sorts;
But made of glass.

And paper wings
And cardboard legs.

A bird of sorts;
But without voice.

Silent as the evening sun.

She descends.
