I find this first attempt already good (well, I can also say far better than my first quatrain).

Rhyming achieved in AABB format, but I am not sure about the meter taken which is also very important in penning formal poetry. In another way around, when I read it aloud the piece produced music to the ear, which is the very goal of metering. Just keep the attempt going mate.

An honorable attempt methinks. I like thoughts that are deep and dark. Just pleased they are not my thoughts..............well done.

Interesting thoughts, I think it's good and leaves the reader with a lot of questions, if you're having this thoughts for real? or if you write it from out of a perspective... It's nice to experiment with a several types of poetry always! good job!

I happen to agree with every stanza. Inner thoughts are perhaps the most haunting. They really do tend to saturate the mind with nightmares.
