Seasons of the HeartA Poem by MysilentembraceThere was a time I reached out for love, a lotus blooming through the mud, eager to feel the heat of the sun. There was a time when rain drenched my roots, and sap flowed freely from my veins, the aroma of lavender and honey" appetizing on the tongue. There was a time when love sparked the kindling of a fire, set my heart ablaze, my branches alight, while smoke consumed my sight and embers combusted through the dark. There was a time when love allowed each part of me to open, basking beneath the sun, growing like ivy, consuming the canvas, unaware of winter’s muted cast. There was a time when my roots held fast in sediment and stone, splitting the earth, radiating deep, while my leaves clung to the branches like armor ready for the frost. With time, love lay glaciated in an unending freeze, shriveled in the tundra, starved of air. No longer giving my ripe fruits away, my roots turned inward, hibernating through the blizzard. In time, I pruned my leaves to make myself smaller, avoiding life-ending defeat. Deciding I’d rather wither alone in the cold than face a drought I cannot survive © 2026 Mysilentembrace |
