Brick By Brick

Brick By Brick

A Poem by Mysty Rayn

built brick by brick

from past pain

failures

fear

the mortar

made of wrong turns

mistakes that can’t be fixed

taller than i am

it surrounds me for safety

no one can come through it

nothing gets out

strong it stands

a place i hide

i call it home

it’s what i’ve grown to know

my wall

I like my wall. People always seem to down play "the wall". It is a shield and protector. I like your writing as well. A very nice work with much said in a few words. I like the flow and its cohesive bond to your life. Nicely written. I'm glad I found it.

We do tend to build walls to keep in our safe little world in and heartache and failure out, but yes if we want to find happiness and success we must climb over that wall.

oh wow - I know all about those walls we build - keeps us protected; secure. Of course, it also keeps some of the best things in life out as well - and eventually, we have to begin to tear it down again - brick by brick - just as we built it.
