Can I be the lock that fits you key?
Can I be the light that helps you see?
On cold winter nights can I be the heat, that removes the chill and
warms your feet;
and can I be the truth that sets you free?
Can I be the moon and you my earth?
If I were a diamond, would you be my worth?
Can I be the house that you make your home?
Can I be the reason you're never alone?
If you were a princess and found yourself sold,
could I be the elf who spins your gold?
If you were locked high up in a castle steep,
could I be the knight who rescues you from the dragons keep?
Can I be your warm blanket when the nights are cold?
Can I spend my life with you as you grow old?
When the sky is clear and the sun is high,
can I speak to you as you pass by?
When it's time to leave and you're on your way,
can I be the reason that makes you stay?
When you're tired and worn and the day has been long,
can I be your hot bath and your sweet soothing song?
Can I be your hero and your daunting black knight?
Can I share dinner with you by candle light?
Can I be the one kissing you when our lips draw near,
and can I be the one showing you, there's nothing to fear?
Can I bring you red roses with baby's breath,
and thirst quenching water when there is none left?
Can I tell you my dream where we are together,
and that if it ever came true, I'd love you forever?
What I'm saying is that you'd be my reason for living,
and even if you reject me, I'll never stop giving.
Some questions need asking, so I ask you, 'Can I? '
Can I love you and live for you until the day that I die?
