Youth Vs. PlasticA Poem by KiwiThe struggles of a teenager against the hard and resilient plastic of her DVD case.I wrote this after a terribly epic battle I fought with my Harold and Maude DVD case following purchase. This was the venting of my sore fingers and bruised stomach, from clutching and ripping and scissoring. I don't know if I'm just a failure or if these things are getting more difficult to open!

Ship, “Your DVD arrived, miss.” Flip, “Ah, this.” Clip, Why won’t it open? Zip, I’ll stay to mope and RIP, Finish this task. Cemented plastic bandage Rock hard in my hand and Perfectly content to stick. Frustration aplenty, Stuck fast by twenty Buzzard, blithering tricks. Ship, “This yours, young’n?” Flip, Thrown on the rug and Clip, Scissors fly free, Zip, Razors slide with glee; RIP, Patience depleted to none. Rugged attraction—no finale To this futile tally Of youth vs. plastic. Shred my fingers, Vexation lingers, Changes not so drastic. Ship, “Honey, DVD’s here.” Flip, “As I fear.” Clip, Watch the deadly object, Zip, Ever able to reflect, RIP, And I, defeated by plastic once more. © 2008 Kiwi |
