The BeastessA Poem by Nandawula Regine Kabali-KagwaA Queen that turned pain into power.
All hell broke loose inside me
Demons that were laid to rest started dancing My dark kryptonite rose up and oooh She is daring and fierce, with razor focused eyes Shaped liked curved spiky daggers molted with fury My angels, are on the cold hard floor Beyond rock bottom Just buried in shame, shock and shun My light Packed her bags and her armor too and Sauntered to hibernate to a place No undeserving scum can ever reach Not even with woo, not even with words That are shielded in glitter Hiding the ugly gooey stench Of bittersweet lies and boundless promises Rising to the throne is a devastatingly beautiful beastess With a whip for a tongue and a mind that was built brick by brick From what's left after lessons are learnt Hell has never been so much more flamboyant than heaven They’ve misjudged chaos for darkness But what I see here on the dancefloor Are gorgeous tributes of trauma, stress, heart ache, selflessness Effortlessly gliding in sync to the symphonies of freedom and self-preservation © 2025 Nandawula Regine Kabali-Kagwa |
