Threats to an Orderly Society

A quote from Prefect Eddy Afford's lecture from my novel Quintessence.

Flourishing societies aspiring to boost their value and reach through governmental control over its peoples invariably experience inveterate tribulations. In such instances where new and ultimate positions of power are established will perpetually attract pathological personalities. It has been witnessed throughout history that it is not the power that corrupts, it is the opportunist magnetism for corruptible persons to be attracted to and fall into such positions of power. Such persons have a tendency to be become intoxicated on the violence they control, and so, they inflict increased violence and control to feed their addiction.
