"The Shattered Heart"

"The Shattered Heart"

A Poem by Neha agrawal
"

A bleeding poem of broken trust, where every whispered 'I love you' was just another lie. Now all that remains is a vow: never again.

"
I gave you love ,raw, real, and blind,
Trusted your words, touch, sighs.
But every kiss was a lies,
And every vow was just a disguise.

I saw the signs but looked away,
Too scared to face the truth.
Your phone lit up with names at night,
It warned me but i was a fool that time.

You swore it was "just friends," just talk,
But shadows don’t lie"I caught the glow.
The way your voice would drop so low,
A secret dance I didn’t know.

Then came the proof I couldn’t flee"
A stranger’s scent still on your skin.
The jokes you shared, the texts you’d send,
The love you stole, the trust you pinned.

Now every memory strikes sharp,
The way you smile and hold me tight,
While giving someone else the night
You break me and called it right.

I’ll pick the shards up one by one,
But never trust the way I did.
You turned my heart to shattered stone
The next girl gets the lies you hid.

So take your games, your hollow art,
Your half-truths wrapped in lace.
You burned me once"I’ll learn the taste,
And never let love break my pace.

Wow… this is truly heartbreaking. You did a great job pouring real emotion into your words — it’s raw, painful, and so well-written. The way you used metaphors like “shattered stone” and “cracks you hid” really hit deep. It’s sad, but powerful. You captured betrayal and strength at the same time, and that’s not easy. Always keep smiling and keep working hard!

Thank you so much — your words are a gift.
Very well written piece and very honest and quite sad as well...sometimes we never know what we are in for even though we love that person...what's behind the shadow? your words are powerful and forthright and have an angry color to them as well...but we all can tell when something is wrong....very wrong and we react as we are meant to do....move on and learn a lesson or two.....

Despite the uneven rhyming scheme here you can feel the raw emotion of this poem.....

I ike the way you take the reader on a journey where the writer is deceived by someone that they fell for...a human experience we can all relate to.....and then the final lines....

You burned me once"I’ll learn the taste,
And never let love break my pace.

Thanks for sharing this poem...:)

Raw, honest, and deeply felt. Every stanza carries the weight of betrayal, yet the strength in the speaker’s voice rises above it. A beautifully written heartbreak anthem.

Thank you so much 😊
This is from the heart...confessional poetry that hits us in the gut.
And yes, shadows don't lie.

"You turned my heart to shattered stone" such depth in this line. Not only is it broken but petrified now no longer living and impervious to future absorption of love. Petrified in fer, and fossilized as a reminder of the past. The damage of betrayal. A heartfelt and sadly beautiful poem of loss and pain.

A very impressive write Neha. The pain in your stanzas was palpable. Shattered hearts don’t easily trust again. Once bitten …. pleased to have stopped by to read you.

Well done. One suggestion: This site doesn't handle em-dashes, so replace them with two normal dashes before posting.
