Not all love poems cry.
Some just sit beside you quietly,
like your hand on my knee
on a drive with no destination.
Some love poems don’t even rhyme.
They show up as
a half-burnt toast you still ate,
or the way you remember
I hate coriander but love mint.
Some days,
love isn’t loud.
It’s a text that says “reach home?”
or you pulling the blanket
to cover the part of me I forgot.
Not all love poems are written
after heartbreak.
Some happen
while brushing teeth side by side,
laughing with foam in our mouths,
and knowing we’ll be late but together.
I guess what I’m trying to say is
you’re my favorite poem,
the kind that doesn’t cry,
just… stays.
"Not all love poems are written after heartbreak". The simplicity of your lines speak volumes and that in turn evokes feelings when I'm reading. A poem that makes me feel, time travelling machine in words.
Wow!
What a deeply emotional and hearfelt poem about the nature of love...
I love the idea behind this poem....like half-burnt toast or brushing teeth together.....it captures the simplicity of love......and the fact it can be so simple....:)
And then the final lines......the kind that stays.....
a great write....

Thank you so much! Your words truly made me smile. I'm glad the simplicity of love spoke to you.
I wanted to start this review by saying I love how you stated "some happen while brushing teeth side by side." That was sooo beautiful. Something about brushing teeth together that screams intimacy and dancing gotta brush teeth while dancing goofy!! What a refreshing poem about love. Thanks for sharing🤗🤗🤗

The main character brushes her teeth with her boyfriend's toothbrush and the way the author described this moment… it was more than just brushing teeth. It was intimate, tender, weirdly beautiful.
And in this small act, the sense of closeness, comfort, and love was recognizable and it inspired me.

Sometimes shoes don't always fit as comfortably as they should but.. but there's something special about them and the comfort and meaning they give.. One' s wriggle and make comfort out of what might not have been the best can turn out to give so much, the leather stretches as does the day to day until... nothing else fits and.. comfort appears like an angel to give you whatever you need or seems right. Fine words, beautifully placed..

Beautiful. While most focus on the concept of heartbreak and warnings and sorrow, yours shows why we as humans fall in love in the first place, why we even take the risk and act vulnerable to this emotion. Truly enlightening

You're so right… love is often talked about in terms of the pain it leaves behind, but there's something deeply human about the beginning of it — the spark, the surrender, the hope. We risk it all not because we forget the hurt, but because something in us still believes in the wonder of being seen, held, and understood. I'm so glad that feeling came through.

This fits the concept perfectly. While the pain we feel is beautiful there is something extremely captivating about optimistic emotions, especially love since it is usually talked about as something we need to beware

There is a completely different world of love when we look at it in terms of hope: hope, full of dares and depths to plunge into. Love can also be a soft rebellion against the forecast of a heart-breaking reality. Defiance after enduring agony. The phrase depends on what frame you are using, but suffering does have resonance to it.
All the things you mentioned in our last call can indeed generate a plot, very interesting indeed, “the strife to achieve.” Pain, difficulty, anguish and any load of effort to suffer to achieve in coaxed fashion where story is soul, essence stuffed with dire grapples.
This is beautiful and so true. Although dramatic texts with high tension often do well, there is a pure beauty in texts that just admire, love, laugh, shine. You did that very well, this poem feels like a ray of sunshine on the skin, a soft warmth and light.
absolutely stunning, well done!
