Faith on my Pillow

Faith on my Pillow

A Poem by Little_bill

And it came to pass that in a
dream, Faith did appear to me
demanding to know the truth.
But I said Faith, I just ain't ready.

She sat down on my duvet,
I saw her halo I heard her sigh
she said, tell me Bill, am I real ?

I said Faith, that’s a toughie,
many say you are but some
would disagree and as for me ?
Well, I’m not too sure.

You’re not helping Bill,
she said and fixed me with a
stare that in other circumstances
I'd have facetiously referred
to as ‘almost biblical’.

I dared sit up in her presence.
She surprised me by leaning over
and fluffing up my pillows and I
caught the faintest whiff of perfume-

the scent of cinnamon in spring,
a beach breeze in summer, she smelt of
snow, toffee apples and candy floss
orchards, opera, fairy tales and fairgrounds

and when I saw she was beautiful
I took her into my bed where she
beguiled me like no other, 'till I cried
her name and after, she stroked
my face and my grateful,
clumsy fingers gripped her hair,

She said, each man is a door, Bill
for each door there’s a key "
in this aftermath I am real for you
but the dawn will set you free.......

I smiled, tenderly kissed her cheek,
I said, Faith, that’s a great line " do you
mind if I use it in a poem ?
