An innocent & indistinct recollection of sorts....

Plum Pencil Skirt

 

I am not at all sure she ever realised

Just how good she looked

In the plum pencil skirt and matching top

 

However

When I remarked upon it she only very lightly flushed without giving anything away

 

 On reflection though maybe she was  aware after all

Since she was known to gather admirers like poets save moments

 

Like old men collect their coins and campaign medals

Before eventually giving them all away

 

Yes she looked so damn good in the plum pencil skirt and matching top she wore to the old school reunion 

Yet nevertheless 

I still forgot her name

...

I can imagine it unfolding like a scene from a film. A reunion. The girl in a skirt. A tint of pink in her cheeks. The men forgetting her name.

I commend you for the descriptive nature of this, as I adore such poems. It's already been remarked upon, but my god, those two similes are beyond fantastic. "Like old men collect their coins and campaign medals/Before eventually giving them all away" It says so much about what you want us to picture.
