Behind Those Vines

Behind Those Vines

A Poem by Neville
"

These are not just words, this place is real, take my word for it......

"

Behind Those Vines

Somewhere behind those

 Cultivated vines and further still

Beyond the old stone wall

There is a place I left my heart

Then further still

 A hundred paces maybe more

A gold capped tower stands

And smiles down on those of them

Who wait and stare in awe

The fools he prophesised

Still then on bended knees

They mumble prayers and clutch

Their rosaries

 Disciples one and all

Behind those vines

Dust settles slowly in the square

While white doves circle overhead

And those that still stare up in awe

Shall take that as a sign

After reading a rash of your flippant & playful humor, finally I got one that's deeply moving & thought-provoking! I love this, as a brief respite from your usual style. I can still feel your playfulness in tiny touches, but it's mostly serious & meaningful & it could be interpreted in a number of ways. Now I want to find some way to do a similar treatment for some of my favorite hideouts of those old frolicking days! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

He does his best and sometimes it's okay........Bless ya boots Margie wink wink...
For me, it felt as Your heart took a flight out of chest up on the sky gazing down to this treasured place, hearing and feeling, yearning for a beautiful peaceful world... there is much sincerity flows with Your words, a gentle sad tune, and Your heart was full with warmth and gratitude, thank You my friend for sharing this wonderful personal piece with us.

No, thank you for reading..........
Sometimes those doves flutter our hearts and minds as well as distant space... ... Theere is true sadness.. and memories .. in your words. I see slowly moving clouds.. touches of grey behind the blue. Such Beautiful wording.
