Without a doubt! I remember, back in the 60s, going through knee high snow to school. The city had plowed the road for the buses, but not the sidewalks. They'd be done for the walk home, but for morning, and possibly for lunch, we had to slog through.
Now, kids are out of school at the drop of a snowflake.
What a wussy, wussy world it has become.
Kids can't even bring a peanut butter sandwich to school anymore, here, anyway, lest some kid with a peanut allergy see it, presumably.
Wussy, wussy world.

Imagine trying to force that kid into the washing machine!
So you've noticed too Neville the complete absurdity which seems to have taken over these days. It's all down to 'ealth and safety, they are the culprits. That's why conkers have been banned from school playgrounds amongst other things. I loved that game as a kid. I had a sixteener! (Do you know what that was?) And don't talk to me about trains, and the hundred of variants as to why they've been cancelled, the wrong type of snow, leaves on the line et al. It needed to be said, and you have done that with a flourish.
Thank you Chris, yes it is absolutely absurd... a sixteener, my word did ya roast it or pickle it in.. read moreThank you Chris, yes it is absolutely absurd... a sixteener, my word did ya roast it or pickle it in vinegar... N

Yes, we have.. it's a growing blot on every system created since the Industrial revolution. A single blink and - life stands still - except in study and motion surroundings where it takes ten hands to hold a pen!
A strangely empathic irony runs these words, Meter more than fine. A more than thoughtful post.
