Over The Hill

Over The Hill

A Poem by Neville
"

My daughter Bex is staying over and we woz talking about her wanting to maybe move to Canterbury... coz she's in love... and Chaucer came to mind...

"

Over The Hill

Over the hill

Not far away

There is an acre

Unfulfilled

Tis where indeed

This ache of mine

Lies oft ploughed

Yet rarely tilled

I love this. Perfect rhyme, rhythm, with a head-snapping message. Oh if only I could properly till those damn lost & hidden acres anyway *sigh!* Fondly, Margie

Me and Chaucer didn't see eye to eye. Fell out we did over the Nun's Priests Tale. Having said that if you can understand the lingo (takes one hell of trying), there is humour there, also a bit of rumpty pumpty. Now Canterbury, I've stayed there, had a good wander round the Cathedral, with all the history of Thomas a Becket and King Henry (boo ..) Methinks your Bex should follow her heart. Your Over the Hill (not your age Neville, your poem) is rather good and you are getting a bit of rhyme in there these days as well :)
