I am a silly pickle

I forgot to laugh or giggle

When the Christmas tree exploded

Just like that

All the presents they were smoking

As my mum and dad sat joking

And the fairy slowly melted on the mat

I'm a New Year person as well Neville. As soon as I read "just like that", I had this wonderful image of Tommy Cooper, complete with his toothy grin and red fez. Mind you if that happened to me as a kid, I'd be finding it a bit difficult to see the funny side of it even though mum and dad were laughing. Poor plastic fairy. Entertaining read Neville.

I think I've only ever written one Christmas poem, and that was eight years ago and I don't believe I backed it up, so it's probably gone forever :)

now that would be a shame.. just got back from Burnham on Sea, bought a big bag of winkles and gonna see if they taste like they did when I was a kid x

Are they still in their shells? We used to have them for Sunday tea. My Nan would give us bread and butter with them. The best bit was using a needle to dig them out :))

Though this has been a right trying year and I have no problems with it being over, with me on the mend! I still love the feel of Christmas. The feeling that miracles never die. The warmth of coming together...the hope that Christmas brings. I guess it really is time for a new tree.

Hey.. good to have you check in CQ.. I do believe in miracles too and value those things you refer to, I'm just not the Christmassy guy that folk sometimes think I might be....am so glad to hear you are on the mend...

I don't find you to be the the Christmassy guy at all Nev.....more like the grinch ;p...vulnerable and loving with that hard exterior ...the one who does right but prefers to be on the outside of it. I'll be in alot after my surgery on thursday. no walking or standing for 6weeks so Ill be here listening to all the miracles. See ya again soon!
