I watched on utube a sunbittern, and very beautiful it was too. Such long slender legs. Exterior coatings can often hide a much softer inner core. Just look at Cadbury's cream eggs. There's another one for you. I really like the last stanza. I imagine that feeling.

Hey, get you.. thanks our Chris, another very much appreciated visit.... N :)
Well as much as I respect Chris' choice of confectionary, I'd have opted for the journeyman of confection, the cadburys chocolate coated turkish delight.
I think my choice is superior in many ways, but most of all, it isn't an egg with that sugary yolk gunk in it.
Seriously, I wouldn't eat one, even if I was a diabetic having a hypo (well, it wouldn't be my first choice is what im saying)
As for your poetry, yeah, pretty good 😀
What beautiful words to read - my first of the day. Can imagine your female readers sat sitting with an enigmatic smile on their lips wondering if.. and why not! You've a way of looking deeply beneath layers and seeing most if not all the feminine complexities.
As to that final stanza, it's as delicious as the honey on my toast!

Sire, thou arte bewitched by that long-legged creature, thy words turned past away!
Smiling, toast finished, the outdoors calls me for a stroll. Keep well, keep safe. :)
I don't have words for such a nice poem. It brought a big smile on my face. I loved the language and the sophisticated style of the poem. Beautifully and wonderfully framed 💚

You had me even before you got to that last line. But then it went stellar. Wings of a fledgling sunbittern is a poem in its own right. But I suppose it helps if you know what one is.
And the rest of the poem leads you into that so well. Extraordinary. The outer beauty hides so much.
Your writing is full of Empathy for a broken hearted soul, that's longing once more for warmth and tenderness. But not sure she will ever repossess it. Your gentle heart writes the best delicate poetry, Neville.

It's always my pleasure N, have a wonderful weekend.
Well... I do hate birds lol but that one is elegant and fits the write so well. I love stories of troubled women who feel unwanted but don't see it makes the men flock.

this is beautiful...and yes, some women cannot imagine that men really want them for their hearts and not just their bodies...and if they have suffered the pain of being left...start thinking they aren't worthy of love.
But as your poem expresses...that is not true...
and her heart will start fluttering again, and she will fly to one who definitely wants her heart.
i like the subtle rhymes mixed in here.
